A couple of weeks ago Lily brought home a permission slip that said “Your child has been selected to participate in the NEISD (North East Independent School District) Elementary Track & Field Day”. The rest of the page talked about where to be, what to wear, what time to be there, etc. What it never talked about is what exactly it was or why it happens or what it is for. I asked Lily what she knew. She said she had to try out for it and that only 4 kids from each 4th and 5th grade class qualified to go. I even called the school and the receptionist had a very unsatisfying answer for me. She said “I am not sure why they do it, they just do”. Interestingly I couldn’t find anything online either.
Anyway today was the day! Here is Lily sitting with her fellow Vineyard Ranch Broncos. I put that arrow on there so that you can pick her out easier.
Her event was a softball throw. They had 5 tries to hit the net in front of them.
The other events they had were running on the track, a obstacle course, a frisbee toss and something else down on the other end of the field that I couldn’t see.
Lily hit 4 out of 5 and won the blue ribbon! That’s my little athlete.
I sat through the events with Lily’s dad Bryan and of course he wanted his picture with her.
