Goodbye Stephanie
Categories: Trains, Travel

Today was kind of a sad day because Stephanie had a train to catch at 2:00 pm. I had a lot of fun with her over the last few days and can barely wait to see her again. Stephanie if you are reading this I want you to know that you are amazing!

Our last few hours together went something like this.

We headed over to the Cheerful Tortoise for the $1.99 breakfast… which actually turned into a $3.74 breakfast because I added ham to my order. I am still a little puzzled why a city with no sales tax has anything for sale that ends in 99ยข… I guess they still want to use pennies sometimes.

While we were there we got our gambling fix… yes we like slot machines. The State of Oregon doesn’t call it slot machines though it is called Video Lottery and those machines are all over the place.

They even have a cool symbol for the Oregon Lottery.

After that we headed back to the apartment. Remember back when I told you about the Lovejoy Fountain Park right below our apartment balcony? They drained the water for the winter. I totally plan on getting this picture again after they turn the water back on.

We took a taxi to the Union Street Station and after Stephanie got on her her train I started walking toward JP’s work. I had a few hours to kill so I stopped a few places along the way but I eventually made it.

Then we walked to the food carts near the apartment for something to eat.

We ended up getting some delicious food from a cart named Phat Cart.

One big lesson I learned in the last two days is that if I am going to be doing this much walking I need to wear my gym shoes instead of my cowboy boots.
