Sneaky Snake
Categories: Animals, Music

Wanna know what freaks me out? Snakes freak me out. Snakes in cages freak me out but snakes in the wild freak me out even more. I was out on the deck near our porch swing and when I looked up guess what I saw… yes, I just said “when I looked UP”!

Not cool dude. Not cool at all.

It was after dark so I assume he was hunting the geckos that hang out on the side of our house after dark.

When I was trying to think up a good name for this post Sneaky Snake came to mind. Sneaky Snake is an old country song by Tom T Hall. Lily loves that song!

And while I am thinking about Tom T Hall there is another song you have to hear called “I Love”. I have loved this song since the first time I heard it. Sometimes we turn this one up really loud and sing along in the car.

I love little baby ducks,
Old pick-up trucks,
Slow movin trains, and rain.

I love little country streams,
Sleep without dreams,
Sunday school in May, and hay.

And I love you too.

I love leaves in the wind,
Pictures of my friends,
Birds of the world, and squirrels.

I love coffee in a cup,
Little fuzzy pups,
Old tv shows, and snow.

And I love you too.

I love honest open smiles,
Kisses from a child,
Tomatoes on a vine, and onions.

I love winners when they cry,
Losers when they try,
Music when it’s good, and life.

And I love you too.

That looks like a python? Are people letting them go free in Texas also? Never ran into a python when I was growing up down there.

  2. Daisy says:

A Python???????? Should I be worried?

  3. Rich says:

I don’t know what kind of snake. Good news it is not a rattle snake. I think it might be a Texas Rat Snake. They eat vermin and are not venomous. Don’t what this to become a Gizzard Shad discussion. Just wondering if it was a python. But it is probably a Rat Snake. Very cool picture.

My favorite Tom T Hall song is “Faster Horses (The Cowboy and The Poet)” The best advise there is about life. Sorry to keep posting It has been a long time since I listened to Tom T Hall it maybe since it was a kid living in Texas.

  5. JP says:

Hey Rich, totally agree that ‘Faster Horses’ describes life’s philosophy!

“it’s faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, and more money”

  6. Daisy says:
