It’s A Birthday Party
Categories: Birthdays

I remember when I was a kid in school if someone was having a birthday their mom would bring cupcakes or some other goodie to our class to celebrate. JP and I were just talking about this the other day because since we are both August babies we never had the chance to be the birthday kid. It came up because Lily’s birthday is on September 4th. Every year she asks me not to bring stuff to her class because she says she is embarrassed that she is the first one in class with a birthday. Is that not one of the silliest things you have ever heard? Every year I have delivered cupcakes to her class anyway. And this Tuesday I will be doing it again.

Since Lily’s birthday always falls on our around Labor Day we usually head down to the coast for the long weekend. It has been a long time since she has had an actual birthday party with kids and all the bells and whistles. This is the year for a big party! The obvious choice is to make it a pool party since the weather is still hot outside and we can easily accommodate a bunch of swimmers.

I found out a while back that my neighbor Yvette makes personalized stationery so I ordered the invitations from her. The monkey on the card is Lily’s idea and but the drawing of the monkey is Yvette’s. Is this not the cutest invitation?

Cute. Isabel told me the other day that she is glad her birthday doesn’t fall in the school year. She said it would be embarrasing. I wonder if she will change her mind in a couple of years. Lily is going to be 10!! HOLY MOLY!
