After writing my other post earlier today I started thinking about the movie Groundhog Day. I checked AT&T U-verse and it was only playing one time today at 8:00 pm. Since that’s after Lily’s bedtime I was gonna record it and have her watch it tomorrow. When I went to record it my DVR informed me that I already had 4 shows recording during that time slot so it won’t record. Bummer.
Later in the day I started thinking about the ridiculously large movie collection we have upstairs… maybe just maybe it was up there. I went upstairs and spent about about 10 minutes reading movie titles when all of the sudden BINGO, there it was.
When Lily asked was was for dinner I told her that I declared it pizza and a movie night.
Here are some of my favorite quotes from the movie:
Phil: I’m a god.
Rita: You’re God?
Phil: I’m a god. I’m not *the* God… I don’t think.
Rita: Are you drunk or something?
Phil: Drunk is more fun.
D.J. #1: Okay, campers, rise and shine, and don’t forget your booties ’cause it’s cooooold out there today.
Phil: Can I have another one of these with some booze in it?
Phil: Ned, I would love to stay here and talk with you… but I’m not going to.
Here is a fun movie fact:
In the film, Bill Murray’s character starts Groundhog Day everyday at six o’clock. The film makes it appear as though the sun is already up in Punxsutawney, Pennyslvania at six on February 2. Yet a little fact-checking shows that sunrise in the borough on February 2 actually occurs closer to 7:30am.
And here is a real life Groundhog Day fact:
Whenever Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow and “tells” the Inner Circle that there will be six more weeks of winter, he is always right. February 2 falls close to the halfway point between the winter solstice and the vernal (spring) equinox. Astronomically speaking, there is always about six more weeks of winter after February 2.
