If you remember back in April I told you guys about how bad I have been neglecting our plants. A lot has changed since then especially for the plants. Here is a picture from April’s posting about them.
And here is a picture from today. It is pretty obvious which one is better. I have about 20 plants out on the deck that I hand water/mist almost every day.
Pretty much everytime I look out at the pool I look at the big planter with nothing in it. It use to have a plant in it but it died long ago from not being watered.
Today while I was out running errands I stopped by Lowe’s. I talked to the guy in the plant section and told him I needed a plant that could handle direct sunlight all day long and still be happy. I did this while Lily was at school and she noticed it right away when she looked out the window.
I also bought another plant for the far end of the deck where there is a lot of direct sunlight. Today with JP’s help I was able to pull one of the empty planters out of the yard and put it up on the deck. This planter has been sitting out in the hot Texas sun ever since our tomato plant died from lack of water.
Lily and I spent a bunch of time adding water to the dirt, mixing it up and adding nutrients to it. Lily had no problem helping with this messy job, she loved it.
Doesn’t it look so much better?
And look at the beautiful flowers that bloom on it. I am not sure what it is called but I still really like it.
Of the about 20 plants on the deck the most frustrating one is the Gerber Daisy plant. This sucker needs a lot more water than everyone else does. Every once in awhile it gives me a flower but it hasn’t for awhile. Finally in the last few days one is popping up.
Here is a closer look at the bud. In person you can see a little bit of pink around the edges.
I think this plant is by far my favorite one. I see lizards hanging out on its leaves a lot and every time I trim it back it seems to grow back faster.
