I guess when I think about Arizona lakes are not one of the first things that come to mind. We decided we wanted to go boating so I did a little bit of googling and figured out that the largest lake near Phoenix is Lake Pleasant. According to the website they have over 10,000 acres of water.
We drove out to what seemed like the middle of the desert and found the marina. We slathered on the sunscreen and hit the water.
The views are pretty cool. We all agreed that the terrain looked a lot like Texas but with a ton of cactus and mountains in the background.
A big difference we noticed between AZ and TX is the wildlife we saw on the lake. I am not sure what these are but they were very pretty.
The water was super cold but we double dog dared Lily to jump in and she did.
We decided that the smart cactus live near the water.
These vultures were eating something along the bank.
Lily is seriously the only person I know who falls asleep on boat trips.
We were speeding along when out of the corner of my eye I thought I saw a cow. A cow you say? I made JP turn around and sure enough… we saw a cow!
These two ducks followed us around for our entire boating trip. We would take off super fast and as soon as we slowed down they would fly over to us and swim around our boat.
Around 5:00pm the air was starting to get chilly so we decided to call it a day and headed back to the marina.
When we were ready to trek back up the hill the marina employee offered us a ride back to our car.

Mmmmm, I wouldn’t expect the lake to be cold….
