Lily are I are always on our own on Wednesdays because JP drives up to Austin for work and doesn’t usually get back home until late. A couple weeks ago Lily told me that she needed a couple more pairs of jeans and for the first time ever she was brand specific. I have a Levi’s girl on my hands. The jeans fit her perfect and she says they are so much more comfortable than any of her other pairs. So after work we headed to the mall. Lily is one of my favorite people to go to the mall with because she wants to stop and look at everything.

In the car on the way there she turned the music down and said that she had a question. She got a serious look on her face and said “Why won’t my Dad let me watch Family Guy?”  This is coming from the same girl who a few months ago asked “Why does my Dad say Britney Spears is trashy?”. I told her that the jokes they tell in the show are adult jokes and the things they talk about are mostly for adults but she won’t understand that until she gets a little bit older. She seemed ok with that answer so I didn’t explain any further.

We got to the mall and just to mix things up I parked near the entrance of Dillards. We found these quotes inside of the American Greetings. I didn’t buy any of them but all three of them made me smile.

After leaving there we walked past one of those calendar kiosks in the middle of the mall and I asked Lily if she wanted to get a calendar for her room. Little did I know what I got myself into. It took me maybe 2 minutes to find the calendar I wanted to buy. I took Lily like 20+ minutes. We went from puppies, to kittens, to dolphins, to cartoons, to Hanna Montana, to Diary of a Whimpy Kid.

Then on to Cars, and Harry Potter, and Anne Geddes, and Taylor Swift when she finally settled on Betty Boop.

But as the guy rang up our purchase she changed her mind at the very last minute and ended up getting Alice in Wonderland. Did I mention they were all 50% off!

Speaking of clearance items! Did you know that you can buy Coach products on sale? For the first time in my life I saw clearance items at the Coach counter inside of Dillards. They had super cute wristlets marked all the way down to $24. Which one do you think I bought?

I think the funniest part of calendar adventure above is the questions she asked when we got home. She saw me making notes on the calendar that I bought so of course she had to get a pen and start writing on hers. She was asking about specific dates like my birthday, JP’s birthday, Mothers Day, etc. I told her a couple times that the important holidays should already be on the calendar and so thats when she started finding all of the holidays. Then she looked at me with a straight face and said “So how long do I keep this calendar?” I said “For an entire year” she said “How long is that” I said “A year long” she said “Well how long is that?”  I said “For 12 months” then she said “So this calendar has 12 months in it?” then she said “What month is it?” I said “When you were at school today what date did you write on your paper” she said “January 12th, 2010″ and then I said “So what month is it?” she looked confused for a just a second when all of the sudden I saw a light bulb go off in her head. Sometimes I forget that she is still learning all of these things that I don’t remember ever not knowing.

Wow stephanie! Even though the wristlet isn’t actually purple (it just looks that way in the picture) it is the one that I bought. Good job! You do know me so well! XOXO
