Made from Scratch

Today when Lily and I were at the grocery store she saw the waffle makers on the shelf and so we decided that’s what should be for dinner. I looked up the recipe on my iPhone and we already had most of the ingredients at home. The only thing we had to buy was the cream and the buttermilk. While I am pretty sure we must have made waffles when I was a kid I don’t remember it. So this is pretty much the first time I have made waffles (or at least remember making them).

Here are all of the ingredients that we used.

Almost ready now we just need to add the fluffed egg whites.

Then we made the whipped cream. This is the first time Lily has seen it made. She said one of my favorite things that she has ever said. She was watching it get fluffy and all of the sudden she made a funny sound and said in a super excited voice “I have to take a picture of this”. If you know me you know why that means so much to me.

I even let her lick the beater like when I was a kid.

Here is the Cuisinart Waffle Maker that we bought today.

And this is the very first waffle to come out of it. There was a little bit of a learning curb.

This is the second attempt… to much batter that time but the waffle turned out perfect!

Lily was so excited. I am pretty sure this is the only time she has had a fresh waffle. I have been feeding her Eggos since she was a baby. Mother of the Year!

I love how happy she looks. On the side there were bowls of strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries. JP even made coffee to have with dinner.

So delicious!!! I will totally make this again!

Learning “curb”, don’t you mean curve? I remember having waffles as a kid. The best waffles I’ve ever had were made by Jon Zurek. I totally need to have him make those for me again! You should ask him for his recipe.

I was gonna go back and fix it after you pointed it out but decided not to. I think its funny. See this is why I need my editor JP to look at stuff before I publish!

I can think of a lot of food items that the best I ever had were made by Jon Zurek. He should publish his own book of recipes!
