I had a 1/2 day off of work today and as I headed home this afternoon I was trying to decide what I wanted to do. I decided that today I would do something I have been putting off for a long time… Lily’s bedroom. Since JP is out of town for a couple days I have lots of time to myself to get things done. Lily usually tries to keep her room relatively clean but lately it has just been out of control. She has the 2nd best bedroom in the house. Her room is a pretty good size, has a big closet and a full bathroom. Keep in mind that home decorating is not one of my strong suits but the aspiring domestic goddess in me tries.
Before I got home I stopped by Target and bought a shelve thing to put her books and other miscellaneous things on. Here I am putting it together.
Ta-da! Check me out! Who says girls can’t use tools!
The hardest part about cleaning her room was the closet. When we first moved here her closet was named Barbie Land because she has her Barbie houses and all of her Barbie stuff in there. She has 39 Barbie Dolls not including any of Kelly dolls which there are a ton of. I was to embarrassed to take a before picture but here is the the newly clean closet!
I was laughing when I realized how many sundresses this girl owns. Reminds me of the posting about my closet. I am also sundress crazy!
As for the rest of the room… here is the before picture from the door.
And here is the after. I still need to figure out what to do about curtains. If it were up to me all of the curtains in the world would be the flowy sheer kind. Any suggestions?
Here is the before picture standing inside the room.
And here is the after.
This is what it looks like when you are laying on the bed. This wall still needs more work. I did however spend the day watching/listening to the Food Network while I worked on the room. Did you know that there are two different types of popcorn kernels? Butterfly and mushroom.. this makes perfect sense after they explained the different uses.
And here is a better look at the shelve thing that I built. I love how well it goes in the room.
I wasn’t really sure what to put in the basket things and so far only 2 of them have things in them. Here is a peek inside one.
I spent almost 8 hours in this room today minus about 30 minutes to heat up some leftovers for dinner. I am satisfied with the results.
